| Hi Guys, I had a look at the file planet forums this morning and noticed guilds are advertising recruitment already... http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=20097 Could be too soon, but do you think it's worth lookin into early? (like the first week or so) Though if for some reason we dont like the game could be a waste of time I guess. Your thoughts? BTW, yes I'm bored ok | |

| id say take as many ppl as possible at the beginning. The whole filtering process will happen eventually on its own. I experience that in LotRo when it came out. Now the guild is very successfull and the community is great as well.
Like i said, i should still have a TS server we could use for AoC... 5000 cap... see notes on the TS server in this forum

| honestly guys, no offence meant here, but i want to spend time away from "Guild" life.
that isnt to mean time spent away from you guys it means not to be in an active guild with people moaning to me about all sorts of shit, i miss the good old days of wow when i pressed start on the WOW character selection screen and was actually looking forward to playing it.
personally i am glad i made "The Crusaders" as i have met some great people, but it also truly destroyed my gaming experiance.
Also we have no understanding of exactly what is needed to be in a guild and what costs or implecations it puts on us, As most of this speculation is based on what is needed for WoW, and honestly if it turns out to be a wow clone i wont be sticking round a long time.
so guys i am actually looking forward to some independant ( and possibly some selfish thoughts and actions) actions and thoughts.
lets just keep oursleves as a bunch of friends on the same server, you all have my skype (those who i like anyway) so its not like we`ll never chat again.
to sum it up i want to be selfish for a wee while.

| Maybe jumping into a guild isn't the best idea for some ppl, im not planning on joining a guild when i start AoC, just gonna plod along myself see how it goes, i think maybe a few of us that have spoke about should join the same server so we can still quest and skype together (thats what i like about wow, the social side) and still have good banter, but finding your own feet is the way to go. | |

| Agreed, I also will join same server but hold of on "guilding" for a while. I trust that the server chosen will be posted on here, as by the time I get this my WoW subscription will have expired, only want to have one going at a time. | |

| Sounds like a plan. As soon as I get online (at release date) I will try to create a guild called The Crusaders just so we have the name. Would not be smart to simply wait since we would need to get a new web site, etc. If you guys want to join then or later, whatever... We could just inv only us to have a common chat and to keep the name. Thoughts? | |

| i wouldnt bother chris, at the end of the day i doubt anyone will call their guild the crusaders in AoC, plus it was a pretty crummy name anyhow....and yes it was me who chose it so i can say it | |

| i am not totally sure about his but i think on aoc you need to be lvl 20 or 30 before you can create a guild (maybe wrong) and rob i totally undertand where you are coming from i felt the same at one point so i skipped wow for a few months and then came back to playing alliance. | |

| Let's take it easy to start with.
Guilding in AoC is probably gonna be as time consuming as it was on EVE. Anyone who played EVE to a decent social level will realise how time consuming it was. AoC will require a really significant input from Guild members with regards to Aquiring a Battlekeep with village/trade resources. Developing it. Defending it, probably every 3 days or so.(See latest Dev info on PvP Sieges) The hiring of Mercs to bolster numbers, paying for all this, etc etc. As well as trying to do what you want yourself within the game.
I may be wrong. But I'm guessing that AoC Guild running is gonna be a full time job. You couple this fact with the inherent politics that surround open PvP MMO's (Guilds warring, Guilds making pacts, Guildies selling off secrets etc etc) it's gonna be a tall ask of anyone brave enough to try and run the Guild.
Of Course, all these factors also make the game more attractive and fun to play.
Let's walk before we can run, and enjoy what it has to offer early on. We can always build up to full guildhood at some point. I'm quite happy to be a loose band of middle-aged thugs preying on poor individuals on good trade routes to start with.
And may be we may make a bid for power in Hyboria at some point.

A stalwart band of underage thugs surely! Will people cart their names over? Might be easier for us to keep track of each other: a host of Bider varients, Strophic, Tem, Kira/aphro/lara etc.. I'll probably call my main EggP again.
